Many people living abroad still believe that to sign documents with legal validity in Brazil, a physical signature is required, notarized at a notary's office or consulate and sent to Brazil. However, this is not true and there is a safe, legal and free way to perform an electronic signature, with all the necessary validity requirements for use in any public body. This facility is the electronic signature via the Gov.br system.
The Gov.br Account is a registration that every Brazilian must make that allows, among other facilities, the electronic signature of any document in digital media with the same validity as a document with a physical signature, such signature being regulated and authorized by Decree No. 10,543, of 11/13/2020 .
To find out how to register for Conta Gov.br, simply follow the step-by-step instructions on the website:
After registering, whenever you need to sign a PDF document, simply access the website with your login:
One additional precaution that we always suggest to our clients is that, after signing, they access the "Validation" website to issue proof of certification of the digital signature, providing even more security to the signed document:
As we said, this is a completely free service, offered by the Brazilian Government, which makes the daily lives of Brazilians living abroad much easier, providing agility and reliability in signing documents.
